This blog will now start reporting more news of interest, and will not be just about global warming.
2. Barack Obama will be sworn in next week, and that will be a big change.
3. Garbanzo Enterprises and all affiliates urge you to band together, whether you like Obama or not, to make this world a better place, through conservation, or just by telling friends to conserve. Every little contribution helps.
4. Ogis News is hiring reporters. Anyone willing to write a global warming column monthly in the Ogis Times should please contact me at garbanzo.enterprises@gmail.com.
5. Alternative energy needs to move forward, whether it is wind, water, solar, or geothermal, or even the controversial clean coal and nuclear energy.
6. The "smog" in the air was only a combination of clouds and smog, with clouds prevalent. Had there have been more smog than clouds, an aerial view looking down on Beijing would show all of that. However, during a biking race, when aerial views were shown, there was no haziness looking down. Therefore, we can conclude that there was little smog early on. First, I would like to explain my support for the Indo-U.S. Nuclear Deal and Nuclear Power in general. Many "green" people feel that nuclear power is unsafe and hazardous, due to the possibility of a meltdown. Although the people's worries are tangible, nuclear power is a very big step up from fossil fuels. Generating such power sends far less pollutants into the air, and generates much more power. Until solar, wind, and hydroelectric power become more efficient, nuclear power is the way to go.

The Polls

The poll on the left has closed, and almost all of you voted that the U.S. is the main cause of global warming, considering population, supply, and usage. This deal should provide power to the villages of India. Of course, like any deal, this has a political background. This deal is mainly in place to improve relations between the U.S. and India. These improved relations could create technology superpower that could compete with industrial China. Therefore, India is split into Communists and Democrats, with no end in sight. Normally, the Democrats don't have any problems outvoting the Communists in Parliament, but this time some Democrats are siding with the Communists because they want to win their votes in the upcoming PM election. Siding with them would complete the picture. "What does this have to do with global warmng?" you ask. Everything! If the nuclear deal passes, this will push forward an alternative energy source. Since the U.S. and India want to compete with China, China will be forced to create alternate energy themselves. This, combined with the Beijing Olymics, will improve awareness in Communist China of pollution and global warming.

The Eastern Problem

In the Far East and Southern Asia, pollution is rampant. Breathng and seeing the sun is difficult. I suddenly realize why people have problems with the Beijing Olympics. Even with massive green efforts, changing the pollution situation in the East is almost impossible. If I was an athelete in the Olympics, I would seriously consider boycotting it. Luckily, the technology industry is picking up in India, a far greener industry than industrialism, although not as green as possible. Possibly, the Olympics could persuade China to really do something. However, since China is a Communist government (meaning the government has all the power), the government officials have to be the people who run a green program.

Declining Air Quality

The air quality in the San Francisco Bay Area and the rest of California has been declining recently, due to the multitude of Californian wildfires. Soon, in the near future, the magnetic poles are due to switch. This happens fairly often in history, as scrientist have found by studying magnetic rock samples. Before the magnetic poles switch, the magnetic field weakens to about 10% of it's normal intensity. This causes more UV rays to reach the surface to the earth. This could effectively heat the earth even further. However, there is a balance to this. With the weakened magnetic field, the earth cannot trap as much heat, so the heat escapes the atosphere very quickly. This odd cycle of balances does have an affect on the earth, though. Since more rays are passing through the atmosphere and are leaving faster, the earth is heated up for a shorter period of time. This could lead to shorter, hotter summers. This can already be proven by the fact that many places in the U.S. have been hit by record june temperatures. Normally, due to the trapping of heat, the warmest part of the year is August, but due to the reversal of the magnetic poles, June, the month with the most sunlight, colud end up being the hottest month.

Save Water, Get Ogis News

To help save water, we at http://wemustfightglobalwarming.blogspot.com are offering you, the readers, an initiative. There is no indication that prices will stop rising in this manner, so people are trying to buy more fuel efficient cars, lowering emissions. This new wave of "green" buyers could offset the growing population's pollution, which could mean that emissions have leveled out. This could mean a little more time for us to fix our mistakes. It looks like that the War on Iraq has had a good effect too, although we had to dig deep to find it. In causing millions of Americans to lose at the pump, George W. Normally, there is more than 10,000 years between ice ages. However, due to human emission, we have sped up our ice age cycle. We are warming up the Earth too fast, and we are making a dent in the ice age cycle. At this point, if we humans never emitted CO2, we would be having normal temperatures. We could have expected an ice age a few thousand years from now. However, due to our pollution and emissions, we have almost guaranteed that we will have major glaciation of the Northern hemisphere within the next 1,000 years, if not the next 100 years. However, until the glaciers move in, temperatures will rise and rise, sea levels will rise and rise, and many people will be displaced. The "Little Ice Age" that Burnett referred to was caused by global dimming, a counter-force to global warming. Global dimming was able to keep global warming at bay for a very short period of time, hence our "Little Ice age," with temperatures dropping 1 degree celsius.

The NCPA (National Center for Policy Analysis)

I am once again committing myself to investigative reporting. This time, we will be looking at the comments of Analyst H. Sterling Burnett, of the NCPA. He states that global warming is completely natural, but says that the rising CO2 levels are caused by a combination of human emissions and the cycle of ice ages. This summary is very similar to Gary Novak's view. However, the cycle of ice ages Burnett refers to is based on the fact that we endured a "Little Ice Age" last century. The rise in CO2 levels, as stated by Al Gore and Gary Novak, comes before the ice age, so we can write off the recent "little ice Age" to normal temperature fluctuation. Now you must think, we must be having natural temp. flutuation right now, but it can be and will be disproven... in my next post.

"The National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA) is an American non-profit conservative think tank." -Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Center_for_Policy_Analysis#Characterization_by_others)

This quote basically shows that the NCPA is a privately funded organization, without representation from Liberals.

John McCain

The public consensus is that Barack Obama will do more to combat global warming than John McCain, if elected. This is odd, however, since aren't farm animals natural? Since there are quite a few less cows in this world than humans, it can be calculated that the average cow eating hay on Sunday in Chinatown has a bigger impact on global warming than an impoverished African, which is terrible! Maybe I should donate money to a poverty fund. Actually, we always look at ourselves as the blessed humans with money, but maybe all of the poverty-stricken africans have something to teach us about saving the environment. If you remember my earlier posts, I stated that Al Gore made his father look like a farmer when he was really a Senator. As I later proved, he was a Senator and a farmer in his time off. Gore wants us to believe that his father was a farmer who did not contribute to global warming, which is a good tactic, but it does not necessitate a white lie. In actuality, his father was not a perfect man, voting against the Civil Rights Act of 1964. However, he later renounced his choice and termed it "his biggest mistake." The answer is a runaway for Obama. Obama's whole campaign is for change, and that is what he will be able to do regarding global warming. The ice age I am referring to will only affect regions within 60 degrees of the poles, which is a lot of space. The rest of the area, primarily the tropics, will experience higher temperature and more drought. HOWEVER!!!!, global warming will continue to affect us for at least 100 years before we experience the ice age. The ice age will work to rebalance our temperatures slowly. As Newton said, "For each action, there is an equal and opposite reaction."

Silence the Critics Once and For All

I have discovered that global warming IS caused by CO2 emissions. It is widely agreed that Water Vapor is the main greenhouse gas. The CO2 emissions by human beings are meager in context of the CO2 emissions of decay and the warming powers of water vapor. However, there is no reliable source that says that a higher amount of water vapor is the first cause of global warming. Global warming was first caused by a little bit of CO2 emissions, which raised the temperature negligibly. The small rise in temperatures caused a little more evaporation, which in turn caused more heat, which in turn caused more evaporation, etc., etc., until we reached our position at this time. Now, you would say that thermal runaway would occur, but this is untrue. Thermal runaway has been combated by global dimming and the convection cycle. Global dimming is a proven fact that the earth is getting slightly cooler because of jet contrails and visible airborn pollutants. The visible pollutants stop light with longer wavelengths than visible light from entering the atmosphere, thus blocking infrared rays. Convection cycles cause air and heat to leave the atmosphere. This happens relatively fast, in approximately 2 months. A new question is raised: If both convection currents and global dimming combat global warming, then why isn't the earth getting cooler?

2 Main reasons:

1. Global dimming has only become a factor recently. Visible pollutants have not been an enormous factor until the 1970s, whereas global warming has been a problem since the 19th century.
2. Global warming is a very strong force. It is being helped along by 3 factors; pollution, an impending ice age, and the reversal of the magnetic poles. First, we have the most obvious reason, pollution. Humans have been pollutiong the air since the 19th century. Second, the earth is in an ice age cycle. Right before an ice age, temperatures skyrocket. This time, temperatures will go even higher before the drop off, causing massive glaciation in the Northern Hemisphere. This glaciation will be fast and furious, with lots of glaciers for a short period of time. Finally, there is the factor that not many people know about. Soon, probably within the next 100-1000 years, the magnetic poles will switch. This is shown by the rapid weakening of the magnetic field, which only weakens when the poles switch. Humans have also sped up this force with global warming. A weaker magnetic field allows more heat to enter the atmosphere, especially at the poles.

New Discoveries

I continue my investigation into the TRUE source of global warming.

"I estimate that heat stays in the atmosphere about a month before escaping into space. I make this estimate based upon the fact that maximum sunshine (June 21) precedes maximum local temperature by almost a month." -Gary Novak, independent Scientist

Actually, the Summer equinox precedes the highest temperature by 2 months. This shows some holes in the argument of Novak, who says that water vapor is the main cause of global warming, and also says that we will have an ice age soon. It is true that the northern Hemisphere will suffer from extreme glaciation due to the stoppage of the Gulf Stream. Novak relates the rise in temperature to the previous ice ages.

From: http://www.climatechangenorth.ca/section-BG/BG_HS_03_O_E.html

Carbon Dioxide takes "50-200 years" to disperse from the atmosphere. If you calculate CO2 to disperse in 125 years (the average of the extremes) you find that CO2 would have caused Earth's temperatures to rise 150 degrees Celsius since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution using Novak's system, which states "a 0.06°C increase in temperature due to CO2 increase can cause an increase in water vapor to cause an increase in temperature of ten times that amount..." It is widely accepted that global warming is caused by our CO2 emissions, but Brian has declared that this is a false statement, citing http://nov55.com/gbwg.html as his source. After reading the website, I must conclude that there are two sides to every theory that must be listened to, therefore, I will go about trying to find the TRUTH of global warming using my good buddy, GOOGLE, and other sources.

"One motive is that incompetent persons, in science and out, are constantly looking for false realities to promote as a method of concealing their incompetence." Gary Novak, Independent Scientist.

This statement could be looked at as a blow to many theorists of global warming, since Novak is calling global warming theorists who believe that CO2 is the main issue incompetent. The incompetence he refers to is not specified in the document. The incompetence of the scientists is a mystery to me. Incompetence in what, precisely? Please shed some light on this situation if you can by placing a comment.

Quickly Now

Al Gore was a famous politician whose family also had political ties. He was "shuttled" between Carthage, his hometown, and Washington D.C. biannually. His father was multi-talented, winning breeder of the month and also being a famous Senator. It is true that the movie did not mention the fact that Al Gore Sr. was a Senator, but it did mention that Gore had two homes, although I do not believe it specified where his second home was. It would be ludicrous to say that he is a liar, but it wouldn't be untrue to say he does leave out some important facts that could incriminate him. Al Gore has given completely credible evidence on global warming. Calling him a liar without evidence is slanderous, or in this case, libel. Another point you raised is the fact that the government wouldn't want to cover up global warming. That is easily disproven. The current administration, like many in the past, do not want to take responsibility for what they have done. A good way to admit their mistake was to sign the Kyoto Protocol and pledge to raise gas standards. Instead of setting standards, they only half-commited themselves to the issue. They have suggested the use of newer lightbulbs and more energy-efficient transportation, but they have not put any standards into place, forcing manufacturors to raise their product effectiveness. This lack of standardization has put Americans into the situation of having to chose between cheaper products and "greener' products. Since doing all of this is a lot of work, the government chooses to take the easy way out and try to disprove global warming. Brian, if you would like to continue your argument I would be glad to field any questions you have.

*note: i am not blaming global warming on the current administration. In fact, all of our problems can date back to George Washington and the Presidents from then on into the Industrial Revolution in america and UK. However, the current administration is to blame on not making moves to try and combat global warming. Instead they make promises without any proof that they will go through with it.

Mosquito Line

Global warming is continuing to have an affect all over the world. The mosquito line is receding. The mosquito line is the altitude at whch mosquitoes cannot live above. Cities like Nairobi, Kenya were built above the mosquito line so they wouldn't be bothered by mosquitoes. However, with global warming, the mosquito line is rising, so mosquitoes are able to survive and bite people that they wouldn't normally be able to attack. This could spread malaria and West Nile virus into places where mosquitoes weren't even present before. This also causes a big problem because people above the mosquito line originally did not have an immunity to mosquito-borne viruses and bacteria, so they are more likely to contract the disease. Many people could die of these types of diseases.

Heat

It's hot today. The citizens of the United States of America have been told that reducing CO2 emissions is unnecessary, but there are markers everywhere pointing to the dangers of global warming. There are signs of global warming already showing up every day in the local newspapers. Scientists have proven that global warming will have widespread effects by 2050. However, bureaucrats continue to try to quiet "theorists" and control the situation, saying there is nothing to worry about.

First and foremost, we are already facing the consequences of our harmful CO2 emissions. Hurricanes, tropical storms, cyclones, and typhoons have increased in number already. In 2005, Japan had a record number of typhoons, causing a catastrophic number of deaths and homelessness. The first ever hurricane in the South Atlantic Ocean was recorded when Brazil was struck in 2004. Furthermore, cities that were built to be above the mosquito line are now plagued by mosquitoes looking for cooler temperatures, such as in Nairobi, Kenya. Even more alarming is the fact that Antarctica's Larsen Ice Shelf is melting, along with the ice shelves of Greenland. Even the animals and plants which we felt that we were dominant over have realized the danger of global warming, represented by their sudden migration toward the poles.

If our greenhouse gas emissions continue, long-term effects will be catastrophic. Sea levels will rise a minimum of 20 feet, with cities like Shanghai, Kolkata, and San Jose completely under water. Of the top ten urban centers of the world population-wise, only Mexico City (#10) is under minimal threat of rising sea levels. However, places like Mexico City will experience more intense heat waves. Fires will occur more often, and droughts will plague Africa and the Middle East, making those areas uninhabitable. By the summer of 2050, the Arctic Ocean will completely thaw in the summer. Even worse, by 2050, almost 1,000,000 species of organisms will be extinct. Humans could suffer from a loss of food and may die themselves.

Since there is so much evidence to show that global warming is real and is a problem, one would think that everyone would be jumping off their couches to try and do something for global warming. However, the real situation is quite the contrary. The general opinion is that global warming is striking, but people feel that they will die before they are affected. If the main culprits of global warming live out their lives without battling global warming, the problem will be our children's problem. We may love our children, but some feel that it is too hard to fix our massive mistake. This argument is completely fallible and easily disproven. If people bought cars with more fuel efficient engines, travel lighter, and pump up their tires fully, new-car based emissions would be lowered 8%. This may not seem like much, but it is a huge step in the right direction for Americans. The use of fossil fuels in the construction of buildings is also a huge generator of greenhouse gases. It is ironic that not only the people inside the building, but the building itself are causing global warming. However, this can be easily combated with the use of "greener" building materials and the use of solar and wind power.

Global warming is striking now, and will continue to wreak havoc in the future, but the public has been misled about the truth and the difficulties of the situation. This is a chance for Americans to show the government that we are not uneducated couch potatoes and are capable of banding together and saving the world, even if the government won't. The government may have had Americans fooled once, but nowadays it sure is a different story, with widespread knowledge of what happened, what is happening, and what will happen with our best friend and our worst enemy, global warming.

Sources:

An Inconvenient Truth.
